The clock struck 10:55. I was on lying on the couch, laptop clutched in my hands. The couch began to tremble.
Automatic though, The Exorcist.
Of course I bypass the logical scientific explanation of the Earth shaking and go straight to, "I just pissed off a ghost."
The photos were wavering a bit and the wine bottles in the kitchen were clunking together.
But thank god for Facebook because that's when I discovered I was not the only lunatic that felt an earthquake in good ol' Savannah, Missouri or for that matter all across the midwest. Apparently Oklahoma was hit with two earthquakes yesterday and we just so happened to be in the path of the tremors.
Experiencing an Earthquake: CHECK!
But this is not why I have came to vent today. I have been bad.
I have been losing my dedication and will power.
The bowl of Halloween candy, the chocolate pumpkin bread, and the vegan marshmallows....they have been haunting me and calling my name. And you know what, I listened.
This may not be so terrible for others but for me I pride myself on willpower and not only that I have health issues. As long as I can remember I have battled with digestion problems. My intestines like to give up from time to time and they just don't work. What I put in my body matters. Your body is a machine and what you put in it fuels your life. For me my body can't handle many types of foods so the junk I have been putting in it lately is leaving me bloated and miserable.
I have been reading many blogs lately and came across Hungry Hungry Hippie. She seems to have the same digestion issues but she follows a strict diet. For me it has been hard to give up some of the foods I love especially lately since I have been losing my will power. But reading her blog has given me inspiration.
I feel alive again to embark in a new journey of eating. Starting tomorrow I am going to try to eliminate a lot of foods I cherish but I am going to create many more recipes in my shoe-box kitchen.
I am not sure yet how I should be eating but please join me on discovering the best foods for digestion.
I already drink a gallon of hot tea a day which is the best advice I can give you right now. Center your day around hot tea. This is the best aid in aligning your body.
Races
I have ran a few races in my time. Finding my new way of health will also involve new goals of fitness. I have three races on my mind.
Rock the Park Way: This half marathon is in Kansas City on April 14th.
Hospital Hill: This half marathon is in Kansas City on June 2nd.
Kansas City Marathon: This marathon is in Kansas City on October 20th.
I am not sure if I will have time to train for a marathon yet. In May I will embark on the journey called adulthood. I am not sure about the time demands but from what I see my morning and afternoon runs will be become EARLY morning runs and LATE afternoon runs. But I am sure I will run the half marathon unless my legs somehow break in half.
With all that being said I run to the end of the finish line so some stranger can put this shiny piece of medal around my neck.
I am not sure how this makes me feel on top of the world but somehow I feel that much more important.
